What I am about to tell you about is not much known for those who are unfamiliar with norse mythology or scandinavian lore in general.
Most on here are familiar whit fae, fairies, or elves or even trolls for that matter, i'm will tell a bit about what they are called in my home country Norway and give the norwegian and english name if possible and a small description about what they can do and how they look like.
In norwegian we don't call these creatures for fae in general but rather "underjordiske" = those who live beneath the ground "vetter"= part of the same meaning but these are more known to be a smaller kind and "huldrefolk" = was a common phrase for such creatures
Rise = is a known as a shapeshifter who could change forms from a hideous shape of a man in to a beautiful white horse, known for luring children and maidens a like lure them into his little lake by the moors or the deep forest, his goal to drown them and then eat them
Fossekall = or directly translated to a waterfall bard, this one could be seen as young boy playing on a wooden flute and could trick children to his roaring waterfalls and make them drown
Nøkken = this one actually has gotten an english name already better known has the Nix just like the Waterfall bard and the Rise he lures children and some maidens on to their main territory water and their main goal is to drown them and then eat them but the Nix also has another dwelling spot more specifically a well.
Lys Alver = Light elves known for living in the forest and being able to help people whit getting better crops and a better harvest, sacrificial gifts was a regular occurence about a 1000 years ago when scandinavians was not completely converted in to christianity as of yet. their looks are variously described but mostly known for being fair and light haired sound familiar does it?
Svart Alver = Black elves in comparison to the light elves these kind of elves are discustingly ugly creatures they usually keep themselves away from sun light and prefer dark murky mountain caves instead of a bright clearing
Dverger = Dwarves now these are familiar to you i hope? and as in most stories and myths they are known as very good handcrafters whit making different tools and armours described as a having the height of a child
Huldra = is in a way the norwegian version of a siren she resides in the forests and being fair and kind to those who show her respect but those whom disrespect her she can become dangerous and vengeful. she is described as a beautiful looking woman long hair and a pretty dress a beautiful smile but the only thing that is different about her is that if you are lucky you might be able to see her cow tail this is the only way to know that she is not a regular human woman a lot of en over the centuries have claimed to be seduced by Huldra which was usually caused by using her alluring charms to get young and fair men even those poor married ones to follow her into the forest and get the men in to a trance like state so they could have sex whit her.
Nisse = can be somewhat compared to the leprechaun in irish folklore but the norwegian nisse does not have a pot of gold at hand, but is mostly seen as a farm guardian whom when the farmer is ill the nisse makes sure the animals on the farm are well and might even feed the animals the nisses main job is to watch the humans and the animals welfare while being on the farm but the only pay a nisse demands is once a year on the 24th december or christmas eve is to get a bowl of porridge and some fruit, this can be seen as a thank you for what the nisse helps the farm whit, but if you do not give porridge to the nisse oh then i do feel sorry for you, then nasty pranks are on their way. some say it is about the size of a small child whit a beard and a top hat is usually red, can look like a little old man.
Jotun\Troll = this is the norwegian version of giants but unlike giants in other cultures, norwegian giants actually die when the sun rays hit them and they turn to stone or some say they turn in to mountains.
Ok this is what i have for now but there are many other things I can tell you because this is just a small part of the norwegian fae creatures

School a Reflection from a Young Witch
The old
ones give us tests each year to improve our belief. Our way of life… correct am
I? This year it was my time to test my loyalties towards the witchy path I have
chosen
Overview: Concept and similarities.
Well how
about this. I have been filled with what Christians call the Holy Ghost. The
sensation is like euphoria of joy and happiness, quite similar to when we
accept our gods to enter us. We allow our bodies to become channels. They
preach in strong belief “Your connection with God has to become a lifestyle”
Similar to our own beliefs way of life isn’t it? Pentecostal Christians use the
power of an old name, an old language long forgotten. They call it speaking in
tongues. They believe when you have gotten the gift of tongues, you are close
to God himself and in your faith and belief to him.
The
devotional energy surrounding everyone of honored practice and goodness. The
love that flickers across the meeting hall, I’ll have to admit it reminds me of
a ritual one of OUR rituals. Think back to one of your first rituals. What
exactly did it make you feel? Normally it is pleasant and you become a
container of healing and pure energy from our universe and the ancient ones.
Quite odd when I thought about it today after a morning meeting, I overslept
yet I was encouraged by the old ones to go. “Just go and learn” I believe they
told me.
Fine I
thought I might as well get up, I did and sat down in the back and observed
those who preached. It’s not like “ordinary” church sermons either. It becomes
a coven without them knowing it, they have strong beliefs that with “God and
the Holy Ghost’s ” help. They manage to heal, I doubt because of his help
although due to the fact that they are able to call such names so strongly and
with the right intent. Every single
meeting becomes like a full out ritual.
Name…
Belief…Power…
Think about
those words. I’m sure many of you who will read this have grown up and been
raised in a Christian home. Yet so many of us have returned to the roots of our
ancestors, what we today call pagan or wiccan. “A dear child holds many names”
is a saying from Norway. And well it is true the universe is a powerful child,
and quite dear to many. What many of these Pentecostals do not realize is that
they draw “healing” energy from themselves and the universe at the same time.
Normally giving small chants such as “Hallelujah” “Thank you Lord” “yes Thank
you Jesus” “Amen Amen”
The more
people give belief into these names. These chants, thus stronger they become.
Haven’t our mentors and books said the same? A name is power? Belief is power?
Being filled with the Holy
Ghost?
I already
told you a bit of how this so called “The Holy Ghost” works. I can only
meagerly compare it to our fifth element. Tonight hands of prayer were laid on
me it was quite the same as last night. But tonight I actually lost every
feeling of my legs and arms. Like my bones vanished and I was only rubber.
Luckily someone caught me, but still the sensation was quite surreal. I guess a
majority of you have read or seen Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? Well
you know when Lockhart tries to “fix” Harry’s arm and all his bones disappear.
And compare that sight with a champagne bottle about to burst due to the pressure.
Ancient connections toward
modern times:
Pentecostal
a Christian free spirited branch (to a certain extent mind you) Paganism/Wicca
coiled around the ancient ways. A few
things we can compare is; number three (3) in Christianity – Father/Lord –Son –
And the Holy Ghost. Number three (3) in Paganism/Wicca – Three fold law –
Triple God/Goddess, the more I reflect upon this the Pentecostal Christians are
kind of like a coven of pagans or wiccans. They seek spiritual awareness from
“One God” they allow angels to “”push them closer to god”” Just as we allow our
guides to push us a little and advice us, towards new revelation; ß- Can’t believe I used a rather
common biblical word just there @.@
Acting to observe and
understand:
Now this is
what I do these days I set a shield around my abilities. That way those
preachers won’t be able to read me at all. I know it is quite risky, but needed
for me to survive this year. It will also be slightly easier to “become one of
them” when my abilities is on time out. By accepting their spiritual element I
might be able to succeed in my lesson.
Even though I do feel frightened, every meeting is slightly
different. I’m still well aware that the
goddess wanted me to attend this school. While I listen to their preachers, I
think through to find similarities. Seek out some kind of loophole they have
forgotten. If I’m lucky I might find it, although I have to keep repainting my
mask every morning.
More about the speech of
tongues:
Recent
observations do show that their ancient language of tongues. Is in fact connected to their ancestors past,
originated “land” hence why those who speak it pronounce and use different
words. Each accent of tongue speech also seems to hold and elemental strength,
seeing that I’m an empath. I can easily manage to locate the
elemental/ancestral energies attached to their so called “praises to god”. I can even dare say each tongue accent plays
out each personality, I guess it can be compared to a tarot, hand or zodiac
reading. Don’t you think? They believe speaking in tongues is what they call a
“mercy gift” and as I mentioned above it supposedly brings you closer to God. I
doubt I will start speaking or writing in tongues after this year, but it is
interesting to watch and feel how the energies float about during prayer.
One downside of being
here:
There are
in fact three demons in my classroom. They snigger and laugh during every bible
class, I seem to be the only one who manage to notice. They are simply
oblivious to the fact of “others” being around, simply to set on ONE goal. ONE
GOD! That they can’t have any balance around them, well they think they have
it. Not certain why they are attached to that classroom though. Guess that is
another lesson for me. Another after effect of my own on and off with my
abilities, stretches my attention span as well as the effect of my abilities.
Even my personal shields had to be temporarily strengthened by a friend of
mine, it has simply become the most
troublesome test the goddess so far has given me.

Protective Herbs
Herbs to ward off negative influences:
Cinnamon - is very known for warding off negative spirits. And to be honest they hate strong scented oils and insences. I know it can be purchased whole or crushed, but because I use it as insence so I prefer the ordinary "food spice" bark whole.
Peppermint - Gives you extra energy, henceforth preventing from negative spirits being attracted to you.
Pine Needle- Is well known in my country for warding off fae and other kinds of spirits since ancient times. I don't know why they can't stand it, but is by far the most effective. You can choose to fetch pine branches from the forest and use them as insence or put them in your fireplace to cleanse your whole home. Or you can add pine needle oil to the "entrances" which applys to mirrors, doors, windows and doorsteps.
Birch - Is also in my country known for it's protective capabilities. Similar methods to pine, though i'm not certain if it is possible to get a hold of Birch oil. Gather some birch branches or bark, dry them and then use it as insence.
Lavender - Eases the mind and calms the body, if you have it dried or as oil. But what many does not know is that Lavender attracts fairies to your home. These can easily become your helpers to prevent harm to you and your family members if you treat them well.
But do remember that those who are allergic might not be able to handle the scent of lavender and Peppermint.

Alright I know many of you new witches, and curious glamour/dabblers. Are really interested in the occult and want to try out these, so called spirit boards or oujia boards. But something very many of you do not know, is how to prevent the spirits you try to contact from either harming you or actually managing to return to the other side. Where they BELONG!
Now I know not all of you who read this are familiar with magick, so therefore the first circle will be made for those of christian belief. The Second circle will be for beginners of the crafts.
When doing your first try at a seance or similar always be a group, and please have the common sense of reading about the pros and cons firstly before even attempting?
Protective circle One: What you need:
A a small group of friends or similar. Dried Basil or St. Joseph's herb. A lighter or matches. A small flameproof bowl or similar consistence that can take some heat.
Progressing to the main part: Place the St. Joseph's herb in the bowl, place it in the middle of your group or "circle".
1: The one who has the most knowledge of seances should alight the St. Joseph's herb with either a match or a lighter. Allow the fire to ignite itself along the small amount of the herb, then gently blow it out and allow the smoke to encircle you all. And you repeat these words. In the name of the Father, the son and the Holy ghost, we ask for protection during our task. Lord our father allow the lost spirit to return to it's realm when we are done. Protect us from harm, by this smoke of St. Joseph's herb grants us your blessings.
2: You have now reached the second stage of your seance. This is when you are about to call upon the spirit or ghost if you will. Choose your words carefully and show respect towards said spirit. Agree before hand who is going to ask the spirit, you can start with simple questions such as: Are you among us? Please give us a sign if you are? These questions are simple to ask, and either one of you should be able to feel a prickling on their back or similar movements on furniture.
after you have asked and possibly gained the answers you need. You will go over to part three
3: In the name of the father, the son and the holy ghost, we ask you to kindly return to your realm. St. Joseph's herb will slowly close the door we opened and. Our gracious Lord will now will give you a safe journey.
After this you all might feel suddenly tired or drained i recommend eating or drinking something to regain your energy. The first times are very exhausting for beginners.
Protective circle Two:
This kind of circle can be used alone or in a group, I will be aiming to this circle for those in their beginning of stages of the craft teachings. Not that similar to the one above mind you. This circle can also be used to ward your home against harmful beings. If you have not found an altar or god/goddess, no need to worry i will be using the elements as an example in this one.
You will need: Four candles of these colors; Green (Earth - North) Yellow (Air -East) Red (Fire - South) Blue (Water - West). A small table. Matches or a Lighter. The herbs to be used in this protective ritual/circle is; Sage and Basil. A suitable bowl that is heat resistant.
Now a few helpful suggestions to keep focus upon your current ritual/circle. Allow calm music to play as you continue with the ritual, television is advised to be off.
1: Start with placing your tools meaning your items of needs properly, in following order, candles on the table, matches or lighter ready, herbs placed in front or in the middle of the candles. The Bowl should already have the added pinches of dried basil and sage within. If you are going to place the candles in a circle of sorts I highly recommend that you take their appropriate directions in consideration. Or If you want simply line the candles up after each other.
2: About time to alight the candles and your herbs with your chosen matches or lighter. As you say these words: Elements I ask for guidance and help, to protect my home. Grounding Earth give me strong wards to repel harmful spirits, Air breathe life into the protections I wish to bestow my home, Fire breathe and burn those who dare cause my family harm. Gentle Water heal and cleanse these wards and the negativities attached. This is what I kindly ask of your service. So mote it be.
3: After you have done this you slowly start to thank the elements out of respect for helping you, during your ritual/circle casting. The strength of this kind of ward might last two - three months tops for a beginner. Also remember to eat or drink something after the ritual, Trust me even the beginning rituals can be very draining.
Now remember these are simply suggestions, you are allowed to make your own changes for personal flair and improvement.
Maybe i'll write up the warding ritual i did a few months back that sort of protected me from waking up. from the small earthquake that happened during the night.
